Marijuana use in Colorado comes with some potential issues for financial planners and insurance agents/brokers. We'll discuss marijuana industry trends and outlooks and how those relate to investments, insurance, and other areas of financial planning while resources for financial planners who may receive client inquiries or requests about investing in the marijuana industry.

Marty May, CEO of Solera National Bank
Marty May is the President & CEO of Solera Naonal Bank and its holding company Solera National Bancorp, Inc. He has been in the banking industry since 1990. Prior to joining Solera he served in senior execuve roles at Front Range Bank, Colorado Capital Bank, and most recently as President of First Western Trust's Cherry Creek (Denver) office. 

Richie Thorne, Head of Regulatory Programs for Dama Financial/Former FDIC Regulator
Head of Regulatory Programs Advisor for Dama Financial, Inc. Richie has extensive supervisory insights as he worked for 18 years with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in their Denver Branch where he was the Assistant Vice President of Examinations and Inspections. Richie worked closely with banks as well as other regulators as he oversaw teams of examiners that conducted commercial examinations of banks providing financial services to the marijuana industry.

Susan Ondack, RVP, Principal Group
Susan Ondack, LUTCF, s the Disability Income Regional Vice-President for Principal Group, covering Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and Utah. Susan has over 25 years of experience in the Disability Insurance industry. Throughout her career, Susan has been very active in the promotion of disability and long term care insurance, through sales, marketing and acting as an expert witness in court cases. Susan is a nationally known speaker on the subject of Disability Insurance and as such has spoken at the National Association of Insurance Advisor's National Convention.

Charlie Alovisetti – Attorney and Partner with Vicente Sederberg, LLC
Charles is a partner at Vicente Sederberg and chair of the firm's Corporate Practice Group, where he focuses his practice on advising investors, companies, and other law firms on the nuances of executing corporate transactions involving licensed and ancillary cannabis companies. In addition to his corporate practice, Charles provides specialized cannabis counsel to non-cannabis companies seeking to evaluate the risks of entering the cannabis space and structure their investments to reduce risks. Charles holds a law degree from Columbia Law School.
