"Uncovering Your Racial Identity: Exploring the Inner Work for Advisors and Clients”

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

St. Francis of Assisi

As financial advisors, you have a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of your clients. Yet you also know that both you and your clients face behavioral financial biases. Did you know that these same biases also impact awareness of racial identity? In recent months, you may have heard the term “do the work.” You may feel at a loss of what that means or where to start. This workshop is designed to help you identify where you are in “doing your work” and use that awareness to serve your clients.

During our workshop, we will be covering

  • Jon’s Story: how I uncovered my racial identity (yes, we all have one!)
  • What do behavioral finance biases have to do racial bias?
  • What are the stages of grief? What do they have to do with racial bias?
  • Understanding what Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mean
  • What is mine to do next? What resources might help me?
